A Thoughtful Education for the Whole Child
18 Months – 8th Grade

Creative Montessori School provides an authentic Montessori environment that empowers children to discover their own unique potential to shape their future and transform the world around them.

Creative Montessori School is an independent, nonprofit school serving children from 18 months through 8th grade. For decades, CMS has provided a thoughtful, child-centered education rooted in the Montessori philosophy and guided by a deep respect for how children grow and learn. We know that children thrive when they are known, trusted, and given meaningful work.

Our classrooms are intentionally designed to support independence, curiosity, and responsibility, empowering students to take ownership of their learning while developing strong academic skills, empathy for others, and confidence in themselves.

At Creative Montessori, education extends beyond the classroom. We are a close-knit community of students, educators, and families who value collaboration, kindness, and lifelong learning. By honoring each child’s individual path and nurturing the whole child, we prepare students not only for academic success, but for engaged, thoughtful participation in the world around them.

THE MULTI-AGE
CLASSROOM

Classes with 3-year age spans facilitate mentorship among the students and encourage leadership development.

USING MONTESSORI MATERIALS

A hallmark of Montessori is specially designed materials that provide a hands-on approach to learning.

CHILD-DIRECTED
WORK

Students are given agency to self-select work, leading to intrinsic motivation and sustained attention.

UNINTERRUPTED WORK PERIODS

Extended periods of purposeful choices enable students to develop concentration while working at their own pace.

Programs

Toddler

18 months - 3 years
Toddler classrooms at CMS are nurturing and stimulating environments where young children learn through all their senses and begin to develop an interest in exploring the world around them.

Primary

3 - 6 years
In a Primary classroom, the mixed age groups afford the older children the chance to serve as leaders in the classroom, and provide examples for the younger children to learn from and to model in a social and academic setting.

Lower Elementary

6 - 9 years
In Lower Elementary classrooms, mixed-age learning encourages curiosity, collaboration, and growing independence, allowing children to build strong academic foundations while learning from and alongside their peers in a supportive community.

Upper Elementary

9 - 12 years
In Upper Elementary classrooms, students take on greater ownership of their learning, developing leadership, critical thinking, and confidence as they prepare for the increased responsibility and independence of adolescence.

Secondary

12 - 14 years
The Secondary program connects academics to real-world experiences, empowering adolescents to think critically, explore personal interests, and grow into confident, responsible, and engaged learners.
