About Creative Montessori School
Creative Montessori School enrolls 250 students at the toddler, primary, elementary, and secondary levels (18 months through 8th Grade) on our two-acre campus located in the center of Homewood, Alabama. Convenient to both downtown Birmingham and over-the-mountain suburbs, CMS draws from 21 zip codes throughout the metropolitan area.
We strive to maintain affordable tuition to enable children from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to receive an extraordinary education. CMS offers its students an unparalleled private school education in a warm and loving atmosphere where the focus is on the individual child.
The Montessori teaching method, coupled with our highly trained teachers, allows students to grow into confident and enthusiastic learners. Our mission, coupled with a tradition of encouraging and sustaining diversity, has long been a source of pride and strength. Barbara R. Spitzer founded CMS in 1968 as a private, non-profit school. It has served as a model for the education community in Birmingham for 50 years.
We’ve been “first” in many areas, including:
- The first private school in Birmingham founded as an integrated school
- The first to offer science, social studies, and foreign languages for preschoolers
- The first school with a mixed-age classroom in which children from diverse backgrounds and physical abilities receive individualized programs based on their unique natural learning processes and capabilities
Choosing a school is about more than academics. It’s about finding a place where your child is known, supported, and encouraged to grow. We invite you to learn more about Creative Montessori School and explore whether our community is the right fit for your family.
