Fall 2026 Positive Discipline Course

Join fellow parents to learn about implementing the Positive Discipline approach to parenting. This course will be facilitated by Lara Kamowski, Director of Montessori Education at CMS and a certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. We will meet on 4 Tuesdays evenings from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. (October 6, 13, 20, 27).

Parenting with Positive Discipline means being kind and firm at the same time, so that any child—from a curious three-year-old to a rebellious teenager—can learn creative cooperation and self-discipline. By taking this course, you’ll gain tools to build a healthy, respectful, and joyful relationship with your child, as well as insight from fellow parents.

Please complete the form below to register. The course fee ($20/family, charged to your FACTS account) includes a paperback copy of Positive Discipline by Jane Nelsen. All are welcome, so please encourage family and friends to join us!

Curious if the course is right for you? Here’s what one of our recent course participants shared about her experience:

My husband and I attended the Positive Discipline course last year and are so glad that we did. We didn’t go into it with any specific problems—we were just hoping to get some knowledge and ideas about how to handle challenging situations with our kids when they popped up. I feel like the course accomplished that and more. One of the best things that came out of the class was getting to know other CMS parents. We developed some great friendships in the CMS community while getting to workshop each other’s challenges, both big and small. It was a very non-judgmental space, which was so important for what we were discussing. We learned about ourselves, our own parenting styles, things we were doing that weren’t helping our kids, and other, more effective and supportive options that are out there. Lara has extensive knowledge and created a comfortable space for us to process some occasionally uncomfortable situations.

I left feeling like I had a better sense of how to hold important boundaries with my children in a healthier way, how to connect with them more intentionally, and I learned a framework for understanding what my children are trying to communicate with their challenging behavior. That last part has changed the way I approach discipline, and my relationship with my kids has grown very meaningfully from there. If you’re thinking about taking the class, sign up! You won’t regret it!
